What is the Early Childhood Programme?
The Early Childhood Programme or pre-primary classes have extended periods of time and space to explore, investigate and play with a variety of materials in order to learn about themselves, other people and the world around them. They are encouraged to explore, investigate and play, both in and out of doors, with spaces for reading, writing, art, construction, imaginative play and science and technology.
Children are in school every weekday and follow the same school hours as children in the primary section (8.35-15.35). |
How old are the children following the Early Childhood Programme?
The children are ages three to five years.
What curriculum do the children follow?
The curriculum is based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB/PYP). Every child in the Early Childhood Programme is encouraged and supported to develop the attributes that are so valued by the PYP and become an inquirer; a thinker; a communicator; a risk-taker; knowledgeable; principled; caring; open-minded; reflective and well-balanced.
The children become active learners with ongoing opportunities to:
- make choices and decisions
- use material in flexible and imaginative ways
- initiate inquiry and ask questions
- work collaboratively with others
- sustain their interests and extend their knowledge
- develop understanding

The relationships, which young children establish with other children and adults, are of central importance to development and learning. Children in the Early Childhood Programme are given a secure learning environment in which the individual is valued and respected.
Is there any mother tongue language support?
Pupils who are eligible to take mother tongue lessons will be able to study four periods per week of mother tongue language. |
