  Achten, Lief

Lief teaches PYP and MYP Dutch as well as Media Studies. This is her eleventh year at ISL and she has also taught in Belgium and other schools in England. She is a graduate from the Ecole Normale in Antwerp and has a degree to teach Dutch as a foreign language from the University of Antwerp. She is also qualified to teach English, French, philosophy and drama and is a part time lecturer at UCL.

  Aguilar, Ivone

Ivone teaches MYP and Diploma Spanish and is in her fifth year at ISL. She has a BA in English from the University of Barcelona and an MA in TEFL from the Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona. She has also completed a training course in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at International House, Barcelona. She is the Spanish Co-ordinator and also the Approaches to Learning leader in the MYP programme.

  Alcantara, Carlos Gil

Carlos teaches PYP Mother Tongue and PYP Language Spanish B. He has a BA in Modern Foreign Languages from the University of Castilla – La Mancha. He has taught at the PÄEDAK in Krems an der Donau, Austria and has also taught in other schools in London.

  Ali, Sayeda Farzana

Farzana has joined ISL from January 2008. She is working as a Yr-6 Teaching assistant and teaching assistant coordinator. She has done her Honours in English literature and MBA (Major- Marketing) both from Dhaka, Bangladesh. She has previously taught as a TA in another International School in Bangladesh for four years.

  Bailey, Maria

Maria is the Head of Middle School, MYP Coordinator and Head of Language B. She has a MA in Modern Languages and a teaching qualification from the University of Jyvaskyla (Finland), and she has previously taught in France, USA, Northern Ireland and England. Maria is also an IB MYP moderator and in-school trainer.

  Baldurs, Johanna

Johanna teaches Icelandic at MYP and Diploma level. she has previously taught in Iceland.

  Blanco-Duran, Maria

Maria teaches MYP Mother Tongue and Language B Spanish and is in her second year at ISL. She has a BA in English from the University of Santiago de Compostela and a BA in Spanish from the same university. She has also completed her PGCE at Edge Hill College (Lancaster University).

  Brewer, Daniel

Daniel teaches mathematics in the school at both MYP and IBD level. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Manchester (1996) and a PGCE in secondary mathematics teaching from the University of Oxford (2007) and is also CELTA qualified. Prior to becoming a teacher he worked as an engineer for BAE Systems for seven years. He has also taught in Italy and Thailand.

  Calder, Raewyn

Raewyn teaches MYP Physical Education, Mathematics and Science. She has a Bachelor’s of Education and a Diploma in Teaching and Learning from the University of Canterbury and Christchurch College of Education in New Zealand. She has had previous experience teaching in New Zealand and England.

  Campi, Silvia

Silvia has been teaching Italian Mother Tongue for the IB PYP programme since 2005. She has a degree in Sociology and a degree in Graphology, both from the University of Urbino. She is qualified to teach in Italian State Primary Schools where she taught for more than twenty years.

  Carlon, Jessica

Jessica is the Primary Learning Support teacher. She has a Bachelor of Science and a post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Wollongong, Australia. Jessica has a particular interest in the different learning styles of students. Jessica joined ISL in 2008.

  Cater, Corinne

Corinne is the ECP teaching assistant. She has previously taught French at ISL and other English schools. Every year Corinne teaches English in disadvantaged schools in China and studies the language. She has a Diploma in Business and Management from the European Business School in Paris. Corinne joined ISL in 2005.

  Chang, Jessica

Jessica Chang MA (Music Education – University of London) is the PYP Music Teacher. Jessica has been with ISL since 2004, is an accomplished instrumental teacher, and has experience teaching Piano, Vocals, Cello, Chinese Harp and Double Bass.

  Chevreau, Emanuelle

Emmanuelle teaches MYP and PYP mother tongue and language B French as well and joined ISL in September, 2009. She has a BA in English and Spanish from the University of Bordeaux and qualifications in the teaching of French as a foreign language. She is a qualified teacher from the IUFM of Bordeaux and has been teaching for 15 years in France, Madagascar and more recently in Notting Hill and Ealing School.

  Chibani, Radia

Radia teaches MYP Biology and Science. She has a teaching Licence (BSc) in Biology from ENS (University of Algiers), an MSc in Plant Biotechnology from Sussex University and a PhD in Plant Biotechnology from The University of Manchester (UMIST). Radia previously taught in Algeria and London.

  Clark, Chantal

Chantal has been teaching French at ISL for eleven years. She has an MA from the Sorbonne. Chantal has previously taught at Thames Valley University, been a translator/interpreter and was operations manager for the Venice Simplon Orient Express for 6 years.

  Clarke, Elaine

Elaine joined ISL in September 2007 as the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). As well as being responsible for managing learning support throughout the school, she works with individual students in secondary to support them in specific areas of learning. Elaine has worked in England as a Teacher for 8 years and in special educational needs for the last 6 years.

  Cooper, Antonia

Antonia teaches MYP and IB Diploma Dutch and is Head of Mother Tongue Languages. She has a BA (Hons) in Dutch, an MA in applied linguistics and is finishing a PhD on Curriculum design based on workplace language needs analysis in Hong Kong. Antonia has been at ISL for eleven years and has previously taught at Westminster University, teaching conference interpretation, DFL in a variety of business settings and worked as a research fellow in Hong Kong.

  Danby, Tim

Tim is the MYP and Diploma Art teacher. He has a BA Fine Art (Newcastle) and an Art Teacher Certificate (Goldsmiths College) and has taught at ISL for thirteen years. Tim is also involved with the Yearbook and stage design for ISL shows. When he has some spare time, he is a practising painter.

  Davies, Huw

Huw Davies is Head of School. He has an MA from the University of Oxford and a PGCE from University College, Worcester. He has extensive experience as a former Deputy Head, IB Diploma Coordinator and Higher Education Advisor as well as being a governor of a Sixth Form College in West London. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Lyric Theatre and the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith. Huw has taught History and Theory of Knowledge at Diploma level and is a member of Llafur – the Welsh History Society.

  Duggan, Chris

Chris is the Head of Humanities and teaches MYP and IB Diploma History and Theory of Knowledge. This is Chris' sixth year at ISL. He has a BA History and BEd History and English from the University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba (Canada). Chris has previously taught in Canada, Lesotho, Germany, India, Lebanon and the U.K.
