Activities

Sports, Drama and Music are all integral parts of the ISL curriculum. In P.E. the children are encouraged to work in small-sided teams and individual games. We also offer gymnastics, floor and apparatus work, as well as athletics, all of which improve their co-ordination, ball handling, spatial awareness, physical and mental growth and development. In swimming, initial work is focused on confidence building and teaching of the main basic strokes. Students all work towards ASA swimming awards. The year is brought to a climax with a swimming gala and a sports day.
physical and mental growth and development

The school also participates in tournaments with other international schools through the International Schools Sports Association (ISSA). The ISL boys Varsity football team brought back the ISSA trophy in November 2004.

Drama at ISL is well established and is very popular with students. The main productions in the school year include the school play and an `International Evening', a show in which we share theatrical performances from around the world revolving on one central theme.

Music is offered across the school by a specialist teacher. In the Primary school, students learn to appreciate music, compose and sing. They also take part in a choir that performs twice a year and have the opportunity to join the popular Music Club. In the Secondary school, the students work towards an understanding and appreciation of the subject. In addition they have the chance to perform in musical events throughout the year and to participate in running the school sound system for major productions.

Sports to improve Students co-ordination
To complement formal lessons, ISL students are involved in a broad range of extra – curricular activities across all age ranges. These take place in school or at the nearby Brentford Leisure Centre or Gunnersbury Park either at lunch time or after school. Primary activities include ballet, football, street dance, choir, art and craft, drama and gymnastics. Secondary activities include fencing, volleyball, football, squash, photography, table tennis and dance. Extra lessons in piano, drums, violin, guitar and saxophone are offered by highly qualified instrumental teachers.
